You would get into the right mood which I never achieved. As Allen Ginsberg James Franco talks about his life and art, his most famous poem is illustrated in animation while the obscenity trial of the work is dramatized.

I do not know what Ginsberg's voice really sounded like, but I have to assume that Franco nailed it, because Franco is not known for his superior acting and he really goes out of his way to sound different on this one. Sadly, the beard looks painted on, and I never fully feel like the style of his hair and clothes is appropriate for the time period.

Maybe it is, maybe not. Franco also deserves credit for portraying a homosexual. While it is not maybe as bold as "Brokeback Mountain", it still takes some courage. One could also -- and probably should -- give credit to all the homosexual actors who have played straight all their lives. Think of all the women Neil Patrick Harris has had to kiss.

Ever try reading "Howl"? I have, a couple of times. It's impossible. It's a collection of random words spliced together in the form of poetry that in most cases provide no meaning.

As for the obscenity trial, the decision could clearly have gone a different way with a different judge, while I actually do agree with the opinion that a free society should not be barred from reading stuff like "Howl", otherwise, where would one draw the line? I will be the first to admit, I usually shy away from any werewolf horror movie. They're usually just too unrealistic looking due to poor special effects and makeup, and the plots usually blow Happy to say not the case with this one!

Not only does the werewolf in this film come across as realistic, the setting of being stranded in the dark, foggy English countryside adds a major creep factor, the acting is far above average compared to most horror films, in the plot is actually good. As far as horror movies go, this is right up there with some of my favorite creature features and an overall good movie. A steady 'A' grade here from me. This one is good enough to at least give a shot.
